Police arrest 60-year-old herbalist, 11 others over ‘abduction’

Kogi state Police Command yesterday arrested an herbalist, Shuaibu Sanni, and one Yahaya Mustapha for alleged abduction of a three-year-old boy during a church service at the Christ Apostolic Church, Usungwe, in Okehi local government area of the state.
Parading the 60-year-old herbalist, his accomplice and 10 other suspects at the command headquarters, the state Commissioner of Police, Saidu Madawaki,  said the suspects were arrested for various offenses ranging from armed robbery and car theft.

He said the Command had vowed not to make the state a haven for criminals, explaining that the suspects were arrested sequel to a tip-off.
Madawaki said on February 09, this year, at about 3.30pm, one Esther Elijah of Okaito, Obangede in Okehi local government area reported at Okehi Police Division that while they were at Christ Apostolic Church, her grandson was abducted.
The commissioner explained that the three-year-old boy, Emmanuel Sunday, was said to have been thirsty and that the grandmother had ordered Blessing Lawal to get him some water to drink.

However, the grandmother said after a few minutes she heard that someone had abducted the boy, but that some people had helped to rescue him.
The police boss said the suspect was subsequently arrested, and that on interrogation, he mentioned the second suspect as an accomplice, who was also arrested.
Also paraded was Salihu Adekunle who was alleged to have stolen a Toyota Corolla car with a registration number Lagos EM 957 LSR, belonging to one Tony Ochai of the Federal Ministry of Transport.
