Police arrest 8 suspects over attack on Kano APC chairman’s residence

The Kano Police Command has confirmed the arrest of eight suspected political thugs over the attack on the residence of the state chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas.

Newly posted Commissioner of Police Wakili Mohammed said the Police would investigate the assault and then charge the suspects to court once investigation was completed.

“Whoever is involved will be charge to court no matter how highly place the person is in the society.

“It is unfortunate that these people took laws into their hands. They destroyed properties, attacked innocent people and cause mayhem in the state on Sunday. This is unacceptable and we will not tolerate it anymore.

“What happened has happened, but we will thoroughly investigate it and bring the culprits to justice. I want to assure the people of Kano that this kind of lawlessness will not happen in the state under my watch.

“There are laws on ground that are meant to guide us on how to conduct ourselves and we must respect these laws so that we can live in peace with one another. We will not allow the few among us to operate as if there is no law or we are in a jungle.

“We will not leave any stone unturned in the cause of our investigation. The laws that banned brandishing or carrying dangerous weapons are still on course and nobody is above the law.”

The CP described as ‘unfortunate’ the assault on the residence of the party chairman adding that it has violated the peace accord signed by political parties.
