Police arrest driver for absconding with employer’s N144,000

By Tope Musowo Lagos Th e Lagos state Police Command, yesterday, arraigned a 24-yearold driver, Sefi u Oladokun, who allegedly absconded with his employer’s N144,000, before an Ikeja Magistrate’s’ Court in Lagos. Th e prosecutor, Sergeant Yomi Egunjobi, told court that the accused, who is facing a count of stealing, committed the off ence on July 24, 2017, at Oke-Odo market, Abule-Egba, Lagos. He said, the accused was a driver to the complainant, Mrs Ronke Olorunda, and was given some cartons of noodles to deliver

to one of her customers but he failed to deliver the money from the delivery of goods to his employer. “Th e complainant gave the accused some cartoons of noodle to deliver to a customer who needed them urgently. He delivered the goods, collected the money and absconded with it. “Th ereafter, the accused refused to pick the calls from the complainant, but he was later arrested by the police,’’ he said. Th e accused pleaded not guilty. Th e Magistrate, Mrs O.I Raji, granted the accused N50,000 bail with two sureties in the like sum. She said that the sureties should be gainfully employed and show evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos state government. Th e Magistrate adjourned the case until August 9, for mention
