Police arrest ‘killer’ of ex-Nigerian envoy

The FCT Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of Sunday Yusuf, a former Nigerian Ambassador to South Africa.
Yusuf was on June 9 murdered at his residence Wuse Zone 5, area.
The outgoing Commissioner of Police, AIG Alkali Usman, made the disclosure at the hand-over ceremony on Wednesday.

He said that the suspect was helping the police to arrest other culprits who participated in the crime with him.
Similarly, he said the police was on top of the case involving Mrs Eunice Olalekan, the woman preacher was murdered in Kubwa.
“As for the murder of Deaconess Eunice, we are also on it we have not been able to break through on the case,” he said.

He assured that the police would not rest on its oars until the culprits are identified and arrested.
“I just want to mention that we are on and will continue to be on until we are able to arrest these culprits and bring them to book.”
He said that he would not say much on the case in order not to jeopardise the ongoing investigation of the case.
Responding, the new FCT Commissioner of Police, Mr. Muhammed Mustapha, called for the cooperation of the media to effectively provide security in the territory.
He said there was the need for the command to collaborate with the media to effectively discharge its duty.

“There is need to collaborate, for the media has an important role to play in the area of security. We are going to seek your cooperation to move the security of the FCT forward,” he said.
He promised to continue from where his predecessor, who is now the AIG in charge of Zone 7, stopped.
The high point of the occasion was the handing over of some documents by the outgoing commissioner to his successor.
In a related development, the outgoing commissioner said that the command had arrested two suspects who specialises in printing fake foreign currencies.
He made the statement on Wednesday in Abuja while presenting the suspects to newsmen.
The commissioner said the suspects were Hamisu Ahmed, 35, and Abdullahi Garba, also 35, from Kano states.

Usman said items recovered from the suspects included $80, 000,  three hundred thousand six hundred and fifty pounds and six handsets.
Others are 24 SIM cards, one 4matic Mercedes Benz car belonging to one of the suspects and two peers of masquerade masks.
He said the suspects were arrested after a tip off at their hideouts in Wuse 2, Abuja, while planning to defraud their victim.
The commissioner said the suspects who resided in Kano came to Abuja mainly to defraud their victim.
He said the suspects would be arraigned in court on conclusion of investigation. (NAN)
