Police arrest man, 40, for raping 60-year-old in Ogun

Men of the Ogun state Police Command have arrested a 40 year old man, Adesina Adebowale for forcefully having carnal knowledge of a 60-year-old woman.

The arrest was contained in a press release issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi and made available to Blueprint Monday.

Oyeyemi in the release stated that the suspect was arrested following a complaint lodged at Idanyin divisional headquarters, Ado-Odo Ota by the son of the victim.

The complainant-son, who came with his mother to the station, stated that while his 60-year-old mother was in her apartment, the suspect broke in and had sex with her forcefully.

Upon the report, the DPO Idanyin division, CSP Olayinka Kuye, detailed his detectives to go after the suspect. He was subsequently traced and apprehended, while the victim was quickly taken to hospital for medical treatment.

The suspect has made confessional statement that he actually committed the crime.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Edward Awolowo Ajogun, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the state criminal investigation and intelligence department, for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
