A 20-year-old boy simply identified as Abdul-Lateef has been arrested by the Osun state police command for allegedly raping a 10-year-old girl (name withheld).
The suspect, according to investigation was arrested at Isale-Aafa area, Okinni in Egbedore local government area of Osun state.
The mother of the victim was said to have reported at Dada Estate police station on May 28 that her daughter was defiled by AbdulLateef.
It was gathered that the suspect came from Ilorin to learn Arabic language from one Muslim cleric at Okinni.
The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mrs Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident to news men on Sunday.
She said a woman from Ologbojo street, Okinni, reported a case of rape to the police in Osogbo and the scene of the incident was visited by the police.
She confirmed that the suspect has been arrested but promise to speak further after proper investigation has been conducted on the matter.
She said the victim has been taken to the hospital while the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID is investigating the matter.
