Police assaults NTA college student in Jos

Tension mounts Tuesday morning in Jos, as Policemen molested and attempted at shooting on a 400 level Student, of the Nigeria Television Authority Television College Jos.

The policemen attached to the Plateau state Government House in a black Toyota Hilux, stormed an internet cafe adjacent the college premises and beat up the student.

Our correspondent who was at the scene reported that as fellow students tried to intervened, one of the policemen pulled out his gun and attempted to shot at them.

A student who was an eye witness said: “We were standing when suddenly the policemen punctured the tyre of the car of our fellow student and started beating him. When we tried to intervene, one of them pulled out his gun and threatened to shot at him.”

The student who was assaulted Abdu Yusuf Umar said: “The policemen came looking for Okada riders who usually stand by the road side close to the college gate and in the process of chasing one of the Okada riders, they punctured one of the  tyres of  my car.”

He added that: “When I asked why they did that to my car, then one of the policemen slapped me, from there my fellow students supported me.”

However, matter was put to rest following the arrival of the college Rector Dr. Barnabas Gbam, who intervene with the help of some college staffers.
