Police ban Okada riders from midnight operation

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) Wuye Division has banned Okada riders from commercial activities beyond mid-night.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in-charge of the area, CSP Patrick Akwarandu, who disclosed this to Blueprint yesterday, noted that the ban became necessary in order to ensure security of lives in the area.
He charged Okada riders to comply with the restriction in conducting their legitimate business in order to enjoy the cooperation of the officers and men of the Division.
The DPO called on the executives of the Okada riders to educate their members on the need to be law abiding at all the time just as he warned that violators would be made to face the full wrath of the law.
Akawrandu also tasked religious leaders to preach peaceful coexistence to their followers, noting that his leadership would always collaborate with them to ensure worship centers are protected through massive deployment of officers and men of the division during Friday prayers and Sunday services.
The Chief Superintendent of Police reiterated the commitment of his men to rid the area of criminal activities as well as to chase hoodlums hiding in Wuye and its environs even as he warned bad eggs to turn a new leaf or relocate.
He implored members of the public to embrace community policing and called for synergy between the police and members of the public just as he assured that police under his watch would work closely with the residents for the protection of lives and property.
The DPO encouraged the residents of the area to complement the work of the police and charged them to go about their legitimate businesses without fear of harassment from any quarter, assuring the people that police would continue to put on strong measures to carry
