Police burst baby factory in Ogun, rescue 6 pregnant girls

Men of the Ogun state police command have burst a suspected baby-making factory in Imedu Olori area of Mowe in Obafemi-Owode local government area of the state.

The baby factory, according to a statement by the command’s spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, was discovered by the operatives of the command on Friday, February 28 this year.

The baby factory is allegedly run by a woman, Florence Ogbonna, who lured the young girls into the factory and recruited men to sleep with them to make babies.

An inmate of the illegal baby factory (name withheld), who escaped from the place, reported at the Mowe police station that she was lured into the home and held captive for some time.

The victim alleged that she and her colleagues were lured into the home by Ogbonna where men slept with them on a daily basis.

According to her, Ogbonna lured her into the home and usually contracted the service of some able-bodied men to sleep with her and others and impregnate them.

She further explained that, immediately any of the inmates gave birth to a baby, such baby “will be taken away by Florence Ogbonna to only God knows where.”

Upon her report, Oyeyemi disclosed, the DPO Mowe Division, Marvis Jayeola mobilised his detectives to the scene where 12 ladies between the ages of 20 and 25 years were rescued while six of the rescued girls were heavily pregnant.

Ogbonna was arrested along side two other suspects, Chibuke Akabueze and Chibuzor Okafor.

The state Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation. 

He equally directed that the victims be kept in safe and protective custody pending when they would be re-united with their respective families.
