Police clampdown on Blueprint Reporter in Abuja

The Nigeria Policemen stationed at Wuse zone 6 check point pulled Blueprint correspondent, Mr Uji Abdullahi Iliyasu, Monday February 4, from a commercial car he was in and questioned him for one and half hours.

The drama started around 9:23pm and ended 10:49pm same day.

He  was suspected for the theft of a car, allegedly parked at popular Sky Memorial plaza in Wuse in the afternoon.

“When the car I was riding in drove to the checkpoint, I was singled out. An officer asked me to open my bag. I obeyed. When he found that the key of the stolen car was not in my bag and there was nothing incriminating in it, he still asked to me to  ‘shake body’. When I told him that I was not in a dance hall, he angrily commanded me to pour  the contents of my shoulder bag to the ground.”

Uji said he couldn’t comply because a stolen car couldn’t be hidden in a shoulder bag.

When our correspondent found  a convenient place and sat down watching them, they quickly released him.
