Police confirm arrest of 2 robbery suspects in Ogun

Two armed robbery suspects were on Sunday arrested by men of the Ogun state police command at Olambe area of Akute in Ifo local government area of the state.

The arrest was contained in a press statement issued by the police public relations officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi and made available to Blueprint Monday

According to the statement, the two suspects, Lukman Olanrewaju and Shola Alabi were arrested following a distress call received by the DPO Ajuwon divisional headquarters, SP Andrew Akinseye at about 5pm of the date, that a three man armed robbery gang were operating at Olambe area, and that they shot one commercial motorcyclist who was later identified as Anas Usman and snatched his motorcycle.

Upon the distress call, the DPO led his men to the scene, and with collaboration of the so safe corps, two amongst the robbers were subsequently arrested.

Items recovered include one cut to size locally made gun, two live cartridges and the snatched motorcycle.

The victim was quickly taken to the hospital for treatment, while effort was being made to apprehend the remaining member of the gang.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Edward Awolowo Ajogun, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to state criminal investigation and intelligence department for discreet investigation and diligent prosecution.
