Police confirms murder of landlady by tenants in Asaba

Delta State Police Command has confirmed the gruesome murder of 63 years old landlady, Mrs Elizabeth Asuelimen who was killed by her tenants in Asaba, Delta State.

The daughter of the deseased,  Mrs. Glory Asuelime said that two evil tenants killed her mother  Tuesday morning at 72 Umuonaje street, Asaba.

said that the suspected tenants who had issue  with the landlady are still at large but four tenants have so far been arrested for

interrogation.

DSP Onome Onovwakpoyey said it has not been proven that the said tenants murdered her, though the women was found in a pool of blood in her house.

The victim’s daughter said, “My mum called me on Monday night by 8pm and asked me to come Tuesday morning, that one of the tenants is giving her problem and was threatening her. So, Tuesday morning tried her telephone line, but  was switched off.

According to her,  “When I got to the house, the door was opened, I entered calling my mother, she wasn’t answering, I checked her room, she was  not there, so I went to the parlour and saw my mother lying on the chair. I call her again she didn’t answer so I touch her, her body was very stiff and I look at her very well, I saw blood allover her body, then I screamed and went outside and said who was the tenant that killed my mother. one of the ladies said it is the tenant at the front and I told them that my mother is dead on a pool of blood inside the house”

“That is how we went to Police A’ Division, Asaba and discovered that they used harmer or stick to hit my mother at the back of her head. The Police have arrested four tenants because after the incident most of them ran away. 

Meanwhile DSP Onome said that investigation is ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the  death of the woman.
