Police dismisses 9 senior officers for misconduct, reduces rank of 6



Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the dismissal of nine senior Police Officers for gross misconduct, even as ranks of six others were reduced.

A press statement by PSC,  Head,  Press and Public Relations, Mr Ikechukwu Ani, Tuesday, said the decisions was part of the outcome of its 5th Plenary Meeting in Abuja on  March 26 and 27, 2019, and presided over by the Commission Chairman, IGP Musiliu Smith (retd).

He said the commission also approved severe reprimand for 5 officers and reprimand for another 5, noting that one Officer, CP Austin Agbonlahor, was however exonerated.

The spokesperson listed those dismissed to include: SP Abdul yahaya, who would also be prosecuted; SP Adamu Damji Abare, who also had his promotion from SP to CSP withdrawn before his dismissal.

Ani said the commission further requested the Inspector General Police (IGP) to furnish it with information on the punishment meted on other officers mentioned in the Police Investigation Reports involving SP Abare with regards to irregularities in the conduct of the 2011 recruitment exercise.

He said other dismissed officers are: DSP Osondu Christian; DSP Samson Ahmidu; and DSP Pius Timiala who would be prosecuted and whose promotion from DSP to SP was withdrawn.

Four ASPs: Agatha Usman; Esther Yahaya; Idris Shehu; and Usman Hassan Dass; were also dismissed for various wrong doings.

Similarly,  Oluwatoyin Adesope and Mansir Bako were reduced in rank from SP to DSP, while Gbenle Mathew; Tijani Saifullahi; Sadiq Idris; and Alice Abbah; were reduced from the rank of DSP to ASP.

He said the commission’s decisions have been conveyed to the IGP for implementation in a letter signed by Permanent Secretary and Secretary to the Commission, Nnamdi Maurice Mbaeri.
