Police foil jail break Edo jail break

Edo state police command yesterday foiled attempted jail break by some inmates at the Benin Central Prisons after prison officials raised an alarm.
There was confusion as prison wardens chased the inmates to the top of over 30ft prison wall.

Help, however, came the way of the prison officials when some policemen who were on ground at the nearby State Election Petition Tribunal for the judgment of the Esan North East council election mobilised and quelled their escape.

All the fleeing inmates were successfully apprehended and returned to their cells.
At press time yesterday, no official statement had been made on the development by authorities of the prison.
