Police Inspector slumps, dies on the way to work

A police inspector has slumped and died while going to work at the Abule-Ado bus stop on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway in the Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos state.

The inspector, who was identified as Amiel Dilli, was attached to the Trade Fair Complex Division of the Nigeria Police Force.

A man, who said he knew the inspector but preferred to be anonymous, told PUNCH Metro that Dilli had complained of not feeling well before he slumped and died on his way to work on Tuesday, March 5, 2019.

According to him, the man had been complaining of general body weakness, adding that he even asked to take some days off in order to go to the hospital.

He added that Dilli told him that he would manage the situation and that his condition would improve, noting that he and other friends only got to know that the situation was severe after he had slumped and died near the Oando filling station.

The source stated, “The inspector was close to me. He complained of general body weakness and I advised him to go for a test. What he told me was that the situation was not that serious and that he would manage until he was strong again.

“I was surprised when I saw his lifeless body near the Oando filling station at the Abule-Ado bus stop along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway when I was going to work. The police responded promptly by evacuating his corpse to their station.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Chike Oti, confirmed the incident.

He explained that the command had contacted the family of the deceased inspector, noting that his remains were evacuated to the Badagry General Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination.

He said the command was saddened by the loss of the inspector, adding that it had also arranged for his burial.

Oti stated, “We lost one of our inspectors, Amiel Dilli, who was attached to the Trade Fair Complex Division. He allegedly slumped and died on his way to work at the Abule-Ado bus stop, along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
