Police intercept 506 bags of adulterated fertilizers in Niger

The police in Niger state have intercepted 506 bags of fertilizers suspected to be adulterated in Minna Niger state.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the state police command, ASP Wasiu Abiodun stated this yesterday in a statement issued in Minna.

He explained that one Nma Mohammed was apprehended along Bida – Minna road with 50 bags of the adulterated product before leading operatives to a depot at farm centre area of Minna from where 456 other bags were recovered.

According to the PPRO, “on 22/5/2020 at about 1600hrs a team of Policemen attached to Kpakungu Division while on patrol along Kpakungu-Bida road intercepted and arrested one Nma Mohammed ‘m’ of Bida town driving one Haice bus with Reg. no. Niger AA-994-WSH loaded with 50 bags of fertilizer suspected to be adulterated, during Police interrogation, the suspect mentioned one Alhaji Maikudi Abdullahi ‘m’ of Farm Centre Minna that contracted him to carry the said fertilizer to Bida”.

He explained that further investigation led to the arrest of the said Alhaji Maikudi Abdullahi and a recovery of more 456 bags of same products in his possession at Farm Center Minna adding that the suspects have confessed to the crime and that case is under investigation.

In a related development, the police have smashed a 4-man car snatching syndicate and recovered one stolen vehicle from Sabon Wuse area of Niger state.

ASP Wasiu Abiodun disclosed this in a statement adding that the syndicate was smashed by detectives from Gawu Babangid.

According to him, “a chief security officer of Abuja steel mill company Sabon wuse reported at Gawu Babangida division that on 13/5/2020 at about 1950hrs, one Mustapha Moh’d a driver attached to the company was suspected to have removed a Mitsubishi L200 pick up with Reg No KSF 395 XX from the company to an unknown destination with the aid of one other unknown person. Police detectives attached to the division swung into action and arrested the said Mustapha Moh’d and three others; Lukman Moh’d, Usman Umar ‘m’ of Dantata FCT, Abdullahi Shaibu ‘m’ of same address who is the supposed buyer.

He said that vehicle have been recovered while suspects will soon be charge to court.
