Police investigating CCT chairman ‘s ‘assault’ on security guard

The FCT Police Command has said investigation was ongoing into the alleged assault by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) Chairman, Danladi Umar, on a security guard at Bannex Plaza, Wise 11, Abuja, on Monday, March 29, 2021.

In the viral video, Umar who was visibly angry was seen scolding a security man and also kicked the guard, before he was restrained and led into his car by police officers.

Reacting to the video in a statement, Tuesday, CCT spokesperson, Ibraheem Al-Hassan, said the security man was rude and had threatened Umar.

The command in a press statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Marian Yusuf, Saturday, in Abuja, said: “Following the incident of alleged assault involving the CCT Chairman and a security guard that occurred at Banex Plaza on Monday, March 29, 2021, the command wishes to state categorically that discrete investigation is ongoing.

“Hence, the Commissioner of Police, CP. Bala Ciroma, wishes to reassure members of the public that the Command will be professional, fair and thorough in its investigation.

“Furthermore, the Command urges residents to remain calm and allow the law take its cause.”
