Police kill 3 kidnappers, rescue 16 in Niger

The Police have killed three kidnap suspects, arrested nine others and rescued 16 of their victims in various operations carried out in Niger state.

The dead kidnappers were said to have been gunned down in a fierce battle with the police in Kompani Bobi area of Mashegu local government of the state.

It was learnt that kidnapping incidents have increased recently in parts of the state, prompting the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu to deploy operatives of operation Puff Adder to the state under the supervision of the state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Sabo.

Police Public Relations Officer of the state police command, DSP Mohammed Abubakar, confirmed this Sunday in Minna, adding that the police had continued a manhunt for other kidnap suspects now on the run.

He said two AK 47 rifles, one berretta, locally made pistols and 109 AK 47 ammunitions were recovered from the suspects
