Oyo state Commissioner of Police, CP Vivian Ngozi Onadeko, Thursday said the command has arrested 30 suspected secret cult members and three suspected kidnappers.
CP Ngozi Onadeko stated this during a press briefing held at the Oyo state Police Command headquarters in Eleyele area of Ibadan on the activities of the command in the past few days.
The Commissioner of Police said the suspected Cultists were arrested during raids conducted by men of the Oyo state Police command.
“On 18/04/2021 and today 22nd April, 2021, a careful simultaneous raid at separate locations based on credible information and strategic intelligence gathering, has led to the apprehension of some suspected cultist specialized in; Armed Robbery, rape and other gang related offences at Jaskot Hotel, Soka Area of Ibadan and NW9 Hotel, Akintola street via Adamasingba Area of Ibadan respectively.” she said.
The Commissioner of Police identified the arrested suspected Secret cultists as Bolaji Olamilekan Israel ‘m’ (31yrs, Christopher Njoku ‘m’ 25 years, Gbolahan Adeyemi ‘m’ 19 years, Ademola Akinkunmi ‘m’ 26 years, Faith Ominka ‘f’ 22 years, David Asuquo ‘m’ 21 years, Adebiyi Yusuf ‘m’ 23 years, Ibrahim Lukman ‘m’ 25 years. Olasupo Opeyemi ‘m’ 27 years, Afolabi Idris ‘m’ 25 years , Monsuru Jamal ‘m’ 23 years, Oladunni Gbolahan ‘m’ 24 years, Muritala Azeez ‘m’ 29 years Uba Emeka Jeromi ‘m’ 20 years, and Yusuf Sulaimon ‘m’ aged 22 years.
CP Onadeko listed other suspected Cultists as Akinyemi Segun ‘m’ aged 28 years, Toheeb Hammed ‘m’ aged 22 years, Philip Adeleye ‘m’ aged 28 years, Ibrahim Adewale ‘m’ aged 23 years, Aliu Mufutau ‘m’ aged 27 years, Fred Christopher ‘m’ aged 21 years, Olanlokun Quozeem ‘m’ aged 22 years, . Ibrahim Abiola ‘m’ aged 26 years, Michael Omotayo ‘m’ aged 26 years , Arize Iheme ‘m’ aged 26 years, Ibrahim Sheidu ‘m’ aged 25 years, . Tobi Morakinyo ‘m’ aged 25 years, Egbonwon Sunday ‘m’ aged 25 yearss Akorede Edris ‘m’ aged 22 years and Owolabi Razak ‘m’ aged 25 years.
The CP stressed that exhibits recovered from the suspect are Four HP Laptops, One Gas cylinder (5 kg), Twenty-five wrap of substance suspected to be Indian hemp, Three Cizza pots, Twenty live cartridges, Ten expended cartridges, One locally made barrel gun, some spiritual soaps and perfumes, some black concoction, 30 exotic Handsets, Plenty Phone Chargers Cash sum of Twenty-nine thousand, nine hundred and seventy naira only (#29,970.00).
On the suspected kidnappers, CP Onadeko said three suspect namely Samuel Oga ‘m’ aged 25 years, Christian Abunka ‘m’ aged 45 years and Sheu Babangida ‘m’ aged 55 years were arrested along Ayete, Igangan, Lanlate, Eruwa, Igboora, Tapa and environ and that the trip have confessed to be involved in the crime and their confessional statement is helping to immediately arrest other syndicate members still at large.
She stressed that another suspected kidnapper,Abubakar Rico ‘m’ aged 25yrs was arrested by the police over the arrest of a farmer in Idere and that the exhibits found with him are Four bottles of Cocaco, Two packets of cigarettes, Two loaves of bread and jeans trouser, Black T shirts , a Cap and a Pullover.
