Police nab 7 for robbery, fraud

The Police in FCT have arrested three notorious robbers, as well as four others for bag snatching, house breaking and fraud.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), for the command, Anjuguri Manzah, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), disclosed this in a press statement, yesterday in Abuja.
He said the suspected robbers: Augustine John, 40; Ronald Mathew, 30; and ‎Ifeanyi Nna, 25; said Police operatives attached to Maitama division busted the robbery syndicate, on January 26, 2015.
The PPRO said the gang specialised in trailing their unsuspecting victims from banks and robbing them of the cash they have withdrawn.
He further stated that the suspects who reportedly came from Kaduna state were arrested after they trailed and broke into the parked car of their victim, with the aid of fabricated master key, and attempted to do away with the cash he had withdrawn from the bank.
A grey coloured Toyota Sienna ‎wagon, four fabricated master keys, a bunch of house keys as well as dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp were recovered from the gang.

Manzah also stated that one Godwin Edith Samson, 27, was arrested on January 15, at about 10:30pm, by Police operatives attached to Wuye Division at City Gate, along Airport Road, after he snatched a lady’s handbag and attempted to escape.
The PPRO said one Raphael Martins, was also arrested for house breaking by Policemen attached to Lugbe division, following Intelligence on burglary in the area.
‎He said, house breaking tools, two 55″ Plasma TV, two standing fans’ an air conditioner, home theatre, one refrigerator, three DVD players, six electric iron, assorted perfumes, three digital camera, one video camera and other appliances were recovered from the suspect.
The last suspect, David Paul, the spokesperson said was arrested on January 20, at about 4pm by a patrol team near Pantaker Bridge, Apo, while pretending to be a lunatic.
Acting on tip off, he said the officers effected a search on the suspect and recovered a locally made pistol and a bag containing wraps of dried leaves suspected to be India hemp.
All the suspects are to be charged to court on completion of investigation, the PPRO said.
