Police nab man for impersonation in Ogun

The Police in Ogun state have arrested a fashion designer, Surajudeen Balogun, over alleged impersonation and fraud related offences.
Balogun, who has served prison term for the same offence, who reportedly arrested by men of the Command while impersonating and trying to defraud a woman through a social media platform.
He was said to have pretended to be a Director of Finance in one of Ogun state government ministries.
Police Public Relations Officer for the state (PPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a statement in Abeokuta, said the ex-convict, had earlier defrauded one Bimpe Akinmade, of a sum of N950,000, on the pretence that he was a staff of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company (NNPC).
He was said to have asked the victim to loan him the said amount to secure the release of his brother detained at Ibara Prisons in Abeokuta.
The spokesperson said having collected the money from the victim Balogun blocked her on the social media.
However, luck ran against him once again while trying to defraud a police officer, who was playing along with him until his arrest.
Oyeyemi said upon interrogation, the 46-year-old fashion designer, who hails from Ijebu -Ode, confessed to the crime and admitted using the photograph of the Director of Finance as a profile picture on the Facebook platform.
He said the Commissioner of Police in charge of the state, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered that the case be investigated and the suspect charged to court on completion of investigation.
The spokesperson further stated that Iliyasu appealed to members of the public to beware of fraudsters on social media.
