Police nab man for killing Italy-based Nigerian, Ogochukwu Alika

The Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has said the suspect in the murder of Italy-based Nigeria, Mr. Ogochukwu Alika, has been arrested by the Italian Police and was expected to be charged to court.

NIDCOM Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit, in a press statement, Tuesday in Abuja, said: “In reaction to the murder of the deceased, the NIDCOM boss said the Italian police were working and cooperating with the Nigerian mission in Italy to ensure justice is done and the culprit faced the consequences he deserves.

“Also, the Nigerian mission is requesting that the Italian government provides Mrs. Alika, the widow, a good job to cater for the rest of the family, being the family’s bread winner, now.”

The statement signed by Gabriel Odu further disclosed that, “Dabiri-Erewa seized the chance to thank the Nigerian community in Italy, various organisations and individuals in Italy who have rallied round to support and raise funds for the late  Alika’s family since his death.”

The late Ogochukwu Alika, a physically-challenged Nigerian street vendor, was allegedly beaten to death by an Italian man, using his victim’s clutches.

Meanwhile, the NIDCOM boss equally gave an update on the gruesome murder of two young Nigerians, Tosin Amos Arowoshegbe, and Chibueze Momoh, who were shot dead at a nightclub Canada while working as guards.

She said that Canadian authorities had identified a suspect and were working to get to the cause of the unfortunate incident.
