Police nabs 26-year-old for stealing 6 weeks child

 

A 26-year-old woman from Idah in Kogi state, identify as Devine has been nabbed by the Makurdi Police ‘E’ division for stealing a six-week-old baby.

The suspect was said to had stolen the child named Doochivir Ukeyima at No 26, Tony Odu street, Gyado Villa, Makurdi and was trying to escape when one Miss Hembadoon Tersoo, 10, alerted the mother of the baby.

The mother, Mrs. Doris Ukeyima, who was weeding grass behind the house, raised the alarm which led to arrest of the suspect.

Narrating the incident to Blueprint yesterday in Makurdi father of the child, Mr. Ukeyima Samuel, said the incident took place on Thursday at about 11 am.

“I was already at my place of work when my wife called me to come home that somebody has stolen my child, but the person has been arrested by the vigilante in the area.

“From what I gathered, the lady came to the house through a bush path behind our house. My wife left the child alone in the house and was weeding the premises. This lady then went straight into my house and carried the baby.
Narrating her side of the story the suspect, said she was in the state for ‘runs’.
When asked the kind of ‘runs’, the lady told Blueprint that she was in Makurdi to do prostitution.

When contacted Police sources handling the case said they were still investigating the matter.
