Police parades soldier for cultism in Edo

Police operatives in Edo state have arrested a soldier Private Igbagbau Lucky for cult related activities.

Lucky, who served in the 101SF battalion in Maiduguri was arrested along other suspected cultists at Ekpoma, Esan West local government area of Edo state.

He was paraded on Friday alongside 25 other suspected cultists by the state commissioner of police, Mohammed Danmallam.

Lucky was said to have dressed in full military regalia at the meeting were he was arrested.

Blueprint gathered that the suspect had been on AWOL from the military.

The suspect in an interview with journalists said he joined Black Axe confraternity before his enlistment in the Nigeria Army in 2017.

Asked whether he had renounced his membership, the suspect answered in the negative.

According to Lucky, 25, “I was a cult member before I joined the army. But on that day, I was celebrating my birthday with some people I invited.

“The police came and said I should just follow them. That was how I was arrested.”
