Police present N23m cheque to slain officers’ families

The authorities of the Nigerian police has presented a cheque of N23 million to 10 beneficiaries of slain policemen.

The Assistant Inspector- General of Police, Zone 5, AIG Dibal .P. Yakadi, who presented the cheque, condoled the bereaved family on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, and pray God almighty to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. 

According to a statement by the zonal Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Emeka Iheanacho, said the beneficiaries were drawn from states under  zone 5 command which include; Bayelsa, Delta and Edo states.

The AIG said the slain officers paid a supreme price of laying their lives for the security of life and property of citizens.

Yakadi noted that the occasion was for sober reflection, adding that the initiative is “under the Nigeria Police Group Life Assurance Scheme”.

He stated that the fund would ameliorate the suffering of deceased immediate families from untold hardship. 

The welfare scheme established by the Inspector General of Police to enhance the welfare of Officers and men of the Force who died or suffered one form of injury or the other in the line of duty.

According to him, “It is also to further ameliorate the suffering of deceased immediate family from untold hardship. 

“No amount of money that is been given to them is enough to bring back the life of the their  bread – winners  but a token to encourage and enhance the up keep and welfare of the deceased immediate families.”
