Gombe state Police Command has recovered the state Assembly mace which was taken away by APC members on Thursday.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Tairu Shina Olukolu, who disclosed this to journalists yesterday, shortly after handover the Mace to the Speaker, Nasiru Abubakar Nono, said the police found the Mace behind the National Industrial Court complex, in Gombe.
He further warned politicians to refrain from criminal acts that could heat up the polity as the rule of law was no respecter of any person and they should remember that the law will always take its course.
Olukolu said the police was yet to make arrest even as investigation was still ongoing, adding that the vehicle use during the stealing of the mace was also recovered
Also speaking, Nono commended the Police over the recovery of the symbol of authority of the State Assembly and urged the security agent to bring those perpetrators to book.
