Police recruitment: 31,893 candidates fail CBT

 

No fewer than 31, 893 of the 37,000 candidates, who took part in the Police recruitment Computer Based Test (CBT), conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), failed the examination.

The list published on the Nigeria Police website, showed that only 5, 253 of the 37,000 candidates were shortlisted for the medical screening, JAMB has revealed.

The list released yesterday showed that of the 5,253 candidates, Kano state had the highest number of 308 candidates who made the recruitment process, while Katsina followed with 238 and Oyo with 225 candidates.

According to the list published on the Nigeria Police website, candidates had been directed to report for screening at the zonal police headquarters in their state of origin between May 31 and June 3.

The list also showed that Akwa Ibom came fourth with 194 candidates, while 189 candidates were selected from Borno state and Jigawa state also had 189 candidates.

Also, Abia had 114, Adamawa 140, Anambra,146 candidates .Bauchi,133, Benue 157, Cross River 122, Delta 166, Ebonyi 91, Edo 125, Enugu 119, Imo 181, Kaduna 161, Kebbi 144, Kogi 140, Kwara 110, Lagos 136, Niger had 169.

In Ogun state, 140 candidates were shortlisted for the stage, Ondo had 125, Osun 211, Plateau 116, Rivers 138, Sokoto 161.
Taraba had 112, Yobe 110 and Zamfara 99.

Some states had low number of candidates including FCT with 42, Bayelsa 54, Gombe 75 and Ekiti 84.

Meanwhile, a female candidate, Christiana Danjuma, reportedly slumped and died during medical screening in Abuja.

A press statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Jimoh Moshood, yesterday in Abuja, said: “The Nigeria Police Force regrets to inform the family of one Danjuma Christiana of her sudden death.

“The deceased was a female PC recruit candidate with number PSCRKD094 from Kaduna state undergoing Medical screening for 2018 Police recruitment.

“The said late Danjuma Christiana slumped while filling medical test form; she was resuscitated and rushed to National Hospital, Abuja, where she was confirmed dead at about 11:00hrs.”

According to the spokesperson, “Her corpse earlier deposited at the National Hospital Mortuary has been released to her family.”

He said the Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris, has directed a full investigation into the death of this promising young lady.

“The IGP also commiserates with the family of the late Danjuma Christiana, the government and good people of Kaduna state, over her sudden demise,” the statement further said 898,673,857,431.07) and the the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB), under the new management appointed by President Buhari in 2016, remitted N7.8 billion to the coffers of the Federal Government, a staggering distance from the N51 billion remitted by JAMB between 2010 and 2016,” Sylvester stressed.
