Police release 52 cattle to owners in Yobe

The Police in Damaturu, Yobe state North East Nigeria has released 52 cows to its rightful owner weeks after recoveries from rustlers in the state.
The Police had also earlier announced the recoveries of several herds of cattle from Boko Haram rustlers by the military involved in current onslaught on the militants in the trouble north east states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe state.

Presenting the cows to the owner Mallam Abbas Umaru, the Police Spokesman in Yobe State ASP Toyin Gbadegesin said during recoveries of the cows, three of the militants were killed with the recoveries of several arms and ammunitions.

Since the recoveries according to him, announcements were made for rightful owners to come for claim and such efforts he said have paid up as due owners have presented facts backed by their village and ward heads warranting such claims.
He said though lots of the recovered cows have been released to owners some still are pending and called on rightful owner to come forward with verifiable evidence for claim.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) also appreciated the maturity exhibited by residents coming forward for such claims pointing out that many people have been honest in the search for the claim.

The owner of the 52 cows Mallam Abbas Umaru from Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa state expressed appreciation to security forces for the efforts made in the recoveries of the lost cows.
He said during the persistent attack on their community, he lost Over 600 cows and all efforts to recover such has failed until now that he recovered 52.
