Police rescue kidnapped banker, palm wine tapper in Ibadan

Men of the Oyo state police command have rescued the abducted staff of Polaris Bank, Babatunde Dauda, and a palm wine tapper identified as Oluwaseun Oluokun.

It was reliably gathered that the banker and palm wine tapper were kidnapped by some gunmen Monday.

Dauda and Oluokun, according to sources, are among the five people kidnapped by some gunmen numbering about seven with sophisticated rifles along the Ibadan-Ijebu Ode road in Ibadan.

Sources said the abducted persons were rescued by combined team of the operatives of Anti-Kidnapping Squad, local vigilantes and hunters, Agbekoya and Amotekun corps,

The operatives were said to have combed the forest for the kidnappers and their victims and they were able to rescue the victims (the Polaris Bank staff and the palm wine tapper) at Ogunmakin area, Tuesday.

Sources said the victims were rescued without paying ransom. But they were reportedly beaten to pulp by the gunmen.

Contacted, Oyo state Police command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Lawrence Fadeyi, confirmed the rescue of the two persons.
