Police: Shun corruption, Bello tells 455 recruits in Niger 

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger state has urged the newly deployed police constables in the state to shun corruption and discharge their duties professionally in the rural communities where they are posted.

The governor stated this, Thursday, at the passing out parade of 455 police constables from Police Training School in Minna.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government SSG, Ibrahim Matane, the governor said the state was in need of more police at this period of insecurity. 

He said, “As you do know, if there is any state that do need  the police,  it is Niger because of the insecurity challenges in few local governments.  However,  I want to expressed government readiness to support these police constables as they resume duties in the communities. I want to advise them to avoid corruption and carry out their duties as police men professionally.”

In a keynote address, the Inspector General of Police, Usman Akali Baba said the graduands were part of the 10, 000 police recruits approved by the Presidency to beef up manpower in the Nigeria Police Force. 

He said, “We have been exposing officers to modern training on human right protection which has been expanded in our training manual even at basic level for recruite constables.  Modern security equipment are now being procured to enhance safety of officers and men in volatile areas and to neutralise emerged threats in such areas.”

Represented by  the AIG Zone 7, Kayode Egbetokun, the IGP explained that the new police constables are being posted to their communities to strengthen security at the grassroot level in line with community police programme of the force.
