Police smash robbery gang, nab 3 in Enugu

The Police in Enugu State Command have arrested a threeman gang of suspected armed robbers that are said to specialize in dispossessing people of their valuables on Udi-Ozalla-Four Corner Road near Enugu.
A press statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, SP Ebere Amaraizu, the Police also recovered one cut to size single barrel gun and a stolen motorcycle from the suspects.
He said that the suspects were nabbed on September 5, 2018, by operatives of Federal Special AntiRobbery Squad (F-SARS) of the command.
“The suspects had conspired and robbed an Okada rider of his motorcycle at gun-point on August 28, 2018, along UdiOzalla-Four Corner Road, having posed as passengers and unknown to the owner that they are armed robbers.
“They later escaped to an unknown destination; but following intelligence information, all the suspects were arrested.
One of the suspects, Ikechukwu Emenike, revealed that he needed to get a motorcycle to convert as a tricycle and to be giving Ugochukwu Esom some money for settlement for assisting him and the person that gave them the gun.” Amaraizu said investigation into the operations of the gang has commenced while the suspects have been helping the Police in their investigation.
