Police, vigilantes collaborate against crime in Wuye

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in-charge of Wuye, CSP Patrick Okwarandu, has met with members of vigilance groups and Eminent Persons Forum (EPF) with a view to working together to combat crime in the area.
Okwarandu, who disclosed this recently, stated that his leadership would work hand-in-hand with the residents in order to achieve peace in Wuye and its environs, just as he implored the vigilantes to live above board in discharging their functions.
The police boss stated that collaboration between the police and members of the public would continue to be his priority, but warned vigilantes against engaging in illegal acts and sharp practices.
He said his office would continue to work with them with a view to fishing hoodlums and bag eggs in the area.
The DPO used the opportunity to enjoin residents to complement the efforts of police, noting that crime fighting and control “is a collective responsibility.”
He assured people of the area of adequate protection of lives and property, adding that aggrieved individuals should always channel their grievances to the appropriate authorities.
He encouraged residents to go about with their legitimate businesses without fear of harassment and molestation from any quarters.
