Police: We didn’t shoot any live bullet, kill anyone at Lagos Yoruba nation rally

The Lagos State Police Command has said it neither fired any live bullet, nor killed anyone at the Yoruba Nation rally staged in Ojota, Lagos state.

The police made the denial following reports that fired by officers to disrupt the ongoing rally.

Police spokesperson in the state, Muyiwa Adejobi, on Saturday said reports that a 14-year-old girl was hit and killed by a stray bullet are rumours being circulated to create confusion and fears in the minds of the people.

He alleged that the girl’s corpse was found wrapped and abandoned at a distance from venue of the rally.

Adejobi disclosed that the body had dried blood stains, implying that the corpse was not fresh.

He said, “After a close look at the corpse, a wound suspectedly sustained from a sharp object was seen on it.

“The claim that a police bullet killed the young citizen is false and mischievous.

“We warn against the spread or peddling of fake and unconfirmed stories.”
