Police yet to recover 5 abducted persons in Ebonyi community

Ebonyi state police command weekend said it is still searching for the five persons abducted by Cross River state warlords in Ekoli Edda community, Afikpo South local government area of the state.

The missing persons, according to a press release signed and issued to journalists on July 2, 2020 by  police spokesperson,  DSP Loveth Odah, were said to have been abducted on June 30, 2020 by warlords from Biasie LGA in a renewed boundary crisis between the two communities.

But the new commissioner for Police, Ebonyi state, CP Philip Maku, while speaking to journalists over the weekend in his office in Abakaliki, said the command is yet to find the missing persons or their dead bodies.

He said, “We are on top of the matter and hopeful that those missing will be found. We are also relying on those in the Cross River axis for any useful information, but we have not seen any of their dead bodies. So, we believe they are still alive,” he stated.

“National boundary commission should come and do proper demarcation of the disputed area and other disputed areas throughout all the boundary areas across the state.”

He also stated his willingness to welcome community policing, even as he said it would help the command combat crime to a standstill in the state.
