Policeman found dead in Osun

A policeman, which rank was not ascertained, Sunday Adejumo, was found dead beside Onibueja sawmill in Osogbo, Osun state capital yesterday.
He was said to be from the provost section of Zone 11 headquarters of the Nigerian Police, Osogbo.
The real circumstances surrounding the death of the late policeman could not be ascertained at the time of filing this report but sources said he was seen at the sawmill on Tuesday when he paid for some planks which he was expected to come and carry yesterday.
The lifeless body of the policeman was seen in front of Dawodu petrol station beside the sawmill. An itel phone, a wrist watch and one Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card were found on the late policeman.
One of the residents of the area said, “we saw this man here yesterday. He came to this sawmill to buy plank. He paid for the plank but he did not go with the planks. The plank seller was expecting the man to come and carry the plank today. We are surprised to see his corpse this morning.”
The corpse was discovered by the operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corpse (NSCDC) who quickly informed the police authority when they discovered that he was a policeman.
The Public Relation Officer of the NSCDC, Mr Wale Afolabi told news men that upon the discovery that the deceased was a policeman, the NSCDC contacted the police and police detectives arrived at the scene immediately.
The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of the Zone 11 Police Headquarters comprising Osun, Oyo and Ondo states, AIG Agboola Osodi Glova confirmed the identity of the late policeman. He said the circumstances surrounding his death would be investigated.
