Political deception: Who is at risk?

During campaign rallies many promises are made by candidates contesting a particular position, but the question is, does the candidate fulfi l his campaign promises after being elected? Many people go into politics not because they want to be agents of development but to steal public funds.
Political deception has led to the downfall of many political parties as well as politicians engaged in such act.
Some parties in the 2011 and 2015 elections have lost credibility and support from many electorate due to non-fulfi lment of campaign promises.
A senator in Borno lost the election because of the loss of confi dence by the electorate.
There are also cases of governors who served well in their first tenure and are voted for a second tenure but perform woefully because they know that they are ineligible to contest again into the office.
Some politicians spend public funds in other to convince the electorate to vote for them, believing that the people are like birds, once you chase them they run but once you pour corn or millet they will come back again, meaning that no matter how hard your tenure is and even though people suff er for your regime due to unfulfilled promises you can easily drag back their attention by spending money on them and give them all forms of accessories.
Political deception has led to death of many parties and politicians in Nigeria due to the lack of trust by masses in fulfilling their political campaign promises after they have been elected.
