Poor NPFL run: Yobe desert Stars fire Ngozi Elechi

The Management of a Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) club Yobe Desert Stars has sacked technical adviser Ngozi Elechi after failing to meet up with three-match ultimatum.

The club in a Press statement issued by the Media officer Jibo Zakari
on Monday said the performance of the technical crew has fallen bellow expectation.

According to him: “We found ourselves in a very difficult situation, haven lost three straight games in 10 days. We need to galvanise measure that will keep us afloat in the top flight.

“The management expressed displeasure over the club’s recent
performance in 2018/2019 Nigeria professional football league season,
we gave them 3 match ultimatum to prove themselves, but no result.

“I admire Elechi very much, I respect him very much. He seems to be a
top trainer and that makes us harder to make the decision, but we do
not have any other choice than to terminate his contract,” the
statement reads in part.

Ngozi Elechi became Yobe Desert Stars technical adviser following
Mohammed Babaganaru departure at the beginning of the NPFL season.

Next stop for the Damaturu-based team will be in Gombe where they are expected to face fellow North-east side Gombe United on Saturday when
match day 13 hostilities get underway .
