Permit me a space in your medium to ask some questions to President Muhammadu Buhari’s Economic Advisory Council. Does buying imported goods such as printing papers and plain formed cartons whose duties, VAT and other taxes have been paid to the government, if such goods are bought and taken to any foreign country to sell and bring the money back the country, amount to an act sabotage of the economy? How does that hurt Nigeria as a country?
The Buhari government is suffering Nigerians who do legitimate business across the border thereby making them jobless. Now that school has reopened, how can genuine and innocent victims of this closure pay their children school fees?
This is like using a sledge hammer to kill a fry! And has the price of fuel reduced for end users in Nigeria because of the border closure? Only a group of people who are in the minority are the ones benefitting from this border closure at the expense of the majority!
