Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adam Oshiomhole, was conspicuously absent during a post-election Thanksgiving church service of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the party’s candidate in the just concluded governorship poll in Edo state.
Also missing at the church was Edo billionaire and sponsor of the APC candidate campaigns, Capt. Hosa Okunbor, and other notable leaders of the party.
Oshiomhole, an ally of Ize-Iyamu was at the forefront of Ize-Iyamu’s campaigns prior to the poll and on several occasions urged residents to reject Governor Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
However, Obaseki who sought reelection at the poll trounce the APC candidate.
Speaking at the thanksgiving service which held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Benin City, Ize-Iyamu urged believers in Christ to always give thanks to Almighty God in life.
He said the occasion was to thank God for a successful conduct of election and admonished all to remain faithful to his promises.
According to him, “In whatever that you are doing, ensure that you have a grateful heart. God may allow you to lose a battle in order to win a war.”
Ize-Iyamu who fielded questions from reporters after the church service disclosed that he was not keen on challenging governor Obaseki’s victory at the election petition Tribunal.
“If you are asking if we will go to the Tribunal, well, I really do not know. I am not keen on going to Tribunal,” he said.
He however stated that he would pursue pre-election litigations against Obaseki.
“PDP has 12 cases in court against us. Even after the election, they are still pursuing the matters in Abuja and in Benin. So, they have 12 cases against us and we have two cases against them,” Ize-Iyamu stated.
