Postponement: APC not ready for credible elections, says Timi Frank

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary Comrade Timi Frank, has revealed that decision to postpone Saturday’s election was taken at a secret meeting Gen. Muhammadu Buhari held with the leadership of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recently.

According to Frank, despite denials by the INEC and others who were in attendance at the secret meeting, the template designed by the APC leadership to rig the presidential election also included staggering and postponement of elections to frustrate Nigerian voters.

In a statement made available to newsmen on Sunday, Frank said Nigerians and international community should disregard what he (Frank) described as ‘lip services’ to the disappointment caused as a result of Saturday’s postponement of  election by the presidency.

The statement said with the reported case of 16 bags of already thumb printed 3.3 million votes in favour of the ruling party allegedly going to Kano and many others call for concerns on the readiness of APC leaders for the election.
“I have been vindicated on my earlier revelation about the INEC’s secret meeting with Gen Buhari,” said the Bayelsa born political activist.

The former APC spokesman said INEC chairman’s insistence to conduct the election in just one day is against the rigging template of APC leaders, hence the attacks on Prof Yakubu Mahmood by the presidency and the National Chairman of APC Adams Oshiomhole.

While calling on Nigerians to resist any attempt to impose former head of logistic Hajia Amina Zakari on the electoral umpire, Frank urged Prof Mahmood to remain resolute in the face of intimidation and blackmail by the APC leaders.

“Information at hand now have it that the presidency and some APC leaders are no longer comfortable with Yakubu Mahmood headship of INEC but they should bear it in mind that the body is expected to be independent.
“Nigerians should prepare to resist imposition of Amina Zakari on the INEC.”

On the readiness of Gen Buhari to relinquish power even if he lose to opposition, Timi Frank expressed worry over the kind of statements credited to the president in a recent interview with CNN, where the former military ruler said ‘nobody can unseat me.

“Gen Buhari is yet to come to term with democratic process. His recent comment has shown that he is a sit tight leader who is doing everything possible to repeat what he did in 1983.”
Comrade Frank therefore called on international community to continue to keep eyes on the process leading to the elections, to avoid chaos in Africa’s largest Nation.

He also urged Nigerian voters not to be discouraged but angrily use their PVC on the 23rs of February to end the reign of APC-led administration.
