Potiskum council boss pledges to end child mortality

The newly appointed chief health officer of Potiskum local government in Yobe state, Yusuf Abdulrahaman, has pledged to end child mortality in the council.

Abdurahaman, who has a master’s degree in public health from Cavendish University, Kampala, Uganda and certificate in community mobilization, fight against famine, hunger and refugees problems, made the disclosure on Monday in his acceptance speech.

He said: “We’re determined to end child mortality in Potiskum local government area and beyond.  I will partner traditional and religious leaders in the implementation of health policies and programmes.”

While thanking Governor Ibrahim Gaidam for his efforts in the health sector especially in giving free treatment to pregnant women and children of zero to five years, he urged health workers in the state to put in their best at work to consolidate the governor’s efforts.
