“Filtop otherwise known as FLY NETWORK is an indigenous company established to promote Agriculture in the Nation and in the World at large, thereby improving investment in Agriculture which also brings about economic growth “As part of our duty to ensure that farming becomes a household practice and our activities in agriculture cuts across all sector, from crops to livestock, distribution of farm produces, marketing and production. In fact, anything that has to do with agriculture.
“We have been working on our poultry site since late last year and we commenced our poultry last March. We have rooms for seven pens, and each pens can comfortably accommodates 700 birds. Now we have about 1000 layers for egg production. Some of the pens will be used for broilers.
It is our aim that all our farmers will invest in poultry apart from our investment in crops farms and earn at least 25% profits on their investment,” he said. He intimated that poultry products in the country is still in short supply hence the call for businessmen to invest in the sector. “There are still high demand for poultry products now in terms of egg, birds, poultry dungs, are all in high demands, these days that people are careful in consuming red meat, the best alternative is chicken, so marketing poultry products is not the problems.
In fact the poultry industry has not satisfied the demands.” He, however, said one of the major challenges of poultry farmers has to do with the management of the birds, saying the handlers of these poultry must be careful to detect any infections before it spread. “He or she must be careful with the types of drugs and feeds given to the birds. Not just the quantity of feeds but the types, there are some feeds that would affect your birds negatively. It is good for those producing feeds locally, but it is advisable for beginners to buy a recommended and approved feeds.
If you get the right types of birds, and the right feed with the right vaccination in the right environment with God on your side, you will make it. “If you have 1000 layers that are well taken care of by the time they reach 80% of egg dropping, you would have recovered your investment, and the sales of the birds would amount to your profits. And for us we are in the process of insuring our poultry but the best way to prevent any infection is to give the birds proper vaccination at the beginning.
This actually starts from the fumigation and treatment of the pens while entering into the pens should be limited as much as possible.” He said the farm is expected to stock broilers in some of the pens at the end of the month. We have launched it for investment and we have seven investors already investing in the farms.
