Power supply: Anambra govt signs MoU with TCN

Anambra State government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to undertake design, development, construction, testing and investment of power substation projects in some parts of the state.

The State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, signed the MoU at the State Executive Council Chambers, held at Government House, Awka, with Fatuma Muhtar, the Company Secretary representing TCN.

According to the MoU, TCN was set to construct two by sixty MVA 132/33 KV substation at Oba/Ojoto, two by sixty MVA substation at Nnewi, sixty MVA, 132/33 KV substation at GCM Onitsha, and also, complete 132/33KV substation at Ifitedunu within 18 months.

 It was also learnt that the second phase of the MoU is for construction of two by one hundred and fifty MVA 330/132/33KV substation at Amansea/Awka, two by sixty MVA 132/33KV substation at Aguleri and two by sixty MVA 132/33KV substation at Ekwulobia/Umuchu.

The governor assured that the facility would bring improved power supply across the State and charged communities where those projects would be sited to give them support.

On his part, the General Manager of Engineering in TCN, Mr. Geofery Nwokoye, while announcing that the first phase of the project has been awarded, expressed satisfaction that collaboration with Anambra state government would quicken its delivery.
