Premier League: Liverpool, Arsenal set to clash; Chelsea vs Norwich game signals matchday 3 action

Liverpool and Arsenal will slug it out when they face off at Anfield. The Reds will be looking to secure a hat trick of wins to start the campaign, having managed to beat Southampton 2-1 in their last game. Despite a laughable error made by second choice goalkeeper Adrian, who was a doubt to face the Saints, he is expected to start this game too.

Arsenal have won two out of two games so far, but a trip to Anfield has always been a tough task for the Gunners to navigate. They have lost astonishingly in their last two trips to Merseyside, conceding nine goals and scoring just one. Liverpool also went the whole of last season at Anfield without losing a game, and while the Gunners have made clear improvements to their squad, they are highly unlikely to take a point out of this one.

Manchester United will entertain Crystal Palace at Old Trafford. The Red Devils have began the season well, thrashing Chelsea in their opener and then picking up a draw at the Molineux against Wolves.

They would have felt hard done by after Paul Pogba’s penalty miss which could have won the game, but it was an impressive result nonetheless. Standing in their way is a Palace side who are yet to win a game and are on the back of a 1-0 loss to newly promoted Sheffield United. Aaron Wan Bissaka will be facing his old side for the first time since his move, and he will aim to continue where he left off. This is expected to be a win for United.

Norwich City will be in good spirits when they host Chelsea at Carrow Road. After beginning their return to the big time with a 4-1 loss to Liverpool, the Canaries picked up three crucial points thanks to a 3-1 win over Newcastle.

Teemu Pukki was the star of the show, netting a hat trick and they will now come up against a Chelsea side who are winless in their opening matches. The Blues were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw against Leicester despite scoring first, and will certainly find it tough away to the Canaries. Will Frank Lampard pick up his first win in charge of the Blues?

Brighton will be looking to get back to winning ways when they host Southampton at the Falmer Stadium.

Without a point in their first two games, Watford will be hoping to catch a break when they welcome West Ham to the Olympic Stadium.

Newly promoted Sheffield United will target back to back wins when Leicester visit Bramall Lane.

Tomorrow, Manchester City will travel to the Vitality Stadium to tackle Bournemouth. The Citizens’ 100% record ended earlier than they would have wanted following a 2-2 draw against Tottenham.

VAR came into play in the dying minutes, disallowing a Gabriel Jesus goal and City the win in very similar circumstances to what happened in the Champions League semi final last season. They now come up against an equally unbeaten Cherries, who will certainly be unable to match up to their quality.

Tottenham will tackle Newcastle at White Hart Lane. The Lilywhites have picked up four points from their opening two games, the latest being a 2-2 draw against Champions Manchester City. With the Toon Army struggling for form, Mauricio Pochettino’s charges should come out as comfortable winners.

Wolves will have a tough task on their hands when Burnley visit the Molineux Stadium. On the back of a 3-2 win over Torino in the Europa League qualifiers, Nuno Santo’s men will be eyeing the first win of the season, as well as inflicting back to back defeats on Sean Dyche’s men.
