Premier League: Man City, Spurs set to tango

Manchester city and Tottenham will battle it for victory at the Etihad Stadium.

Both teams got off to winning starts, with City recording an emphatic 5-0 victory away to West Ham, while Spurs put on a late show to beat Aston Villa 3-1.

Harry Kane was the star of the show, scoring twice, while Raheem Sterling put in a solid display capped by a hat trick. It’s early days but City lead the table on goal difference, and will be looking to stretch that run with a win. Spurs don’t have the best record at the Etihad and based on the form of the Citizens, are likely to taste defeat here.

Liverpool will travel to St. Mary’s stadium to tackle Southampton. The Reds followed up their opening day thrashing of Norwich with a penalty shoot out win over Chelsea in the UEFA Super Cup, securing Jurgen Klopp’s second title in three months.

They will be disappointed to be missing Alisson for the next few weeks, but back up keeper Adrian seems to be a good replacement for the mean time, as he showed against the Blues. Southampton began their season in the worst way possible, losing 3-0 to Burnley. Can they bounce back against Klopp and Co?

Arsenal will take on Burnley in a tricky clash at the Emirates Stadium. Unai Emery’s charges kicked off their season with a narrow victory against Newcastle, courtesy of a goal from Pierre Emerick Aubameyang. Burnley, 3-0 opening day winners against Southampton, will certainly pose a bigger threat, but the Gunners are expected to pull through nonetheless.

Brighton will be looking to make it two wins from two when they host West Ham at the Falmer Stadium. The Seagulls were surprise 3-0 winners away to Watford, while West Ham will look to record their first points of the campaign.

Everton will be confident of picking up their first win of the campaign when Watford visit Goodison Park.

Newly promoted Norwich City will entertain Newcastle at Carrow Road.
Aston Villa will entertain Bournemouth at Villa Park.

Tomorrow, Chelsea will take on Leicester City at Stamford Bridge. The Blues have lost their last two games in all competitions, but their opening day defeat is one they won’t forget in a long time.

Frank Lampard’s charges were thrashed 4-0 by Manchester United at Old Trafford, despite putting in a convincing showing in the first half featuring two crossbar hits.

It was then followed by a Super Cup defeat to Liverpool, a game they will feel they should have won. Leicester began their season with a goalless draw against Wolves, and they were 1-0 winners at the Bridge last season thanks to a goal from Jamie Vardy. Can the Foxes avoid defeat at the hands of the Blues for the third game running?

Newly promoted Sheffield United will take on Crystal Palace at Bramall Lane.
