Premier League Week 13 Preview: Fireworks at Anfield as Chelsea dare L’pool

The match of the weekend takes place at Anfield when Liverpool lock horns with Chelsea. The Reds were on a four match winning streak and seemed to have put their troubles behind them.

But after throwing away a three goal lead to draw 3-3 with Sevilla, it appears their defence stills has a lot of cracks. Goal scoring hasn’t been a problem for them as Mohammed Salah leads the League’s top scorers chart with nine goals.

The winger comes up against his former side who are on a good run themselves. A 4-0 win over West Brom was followed by another 4-0 win over Qarabag in the Champions League. The Blues are 3rd on the log, just a point behind Man United. Slip up here though and they will drop down to 4th.

Manchester United will target their second straight win against Brighton at Old Trafford. The Red Devils got back to winning ways against Newcastle, winning 4-1 with the returning Paul Pogba grabbing a goal and an assist. They were brought back down to earth in midweek however, going down 1-0 to FC Basel in the Champions League.

Brighton extended their unbeaten run to 5 matches after a 2-2 draw with Stoke. But they will find it difficult at the Theatre of Dreams, where the Red Devils haven’t lost in 38 matches.

Tottenham will look to bounce back from their derby defeat when they take on West Brom at Wembley. Losing 2-0 to Arsenal certainly hurt the pride of the Lilywhites, but they were back in business in the

Champions League after winning 2-1 against Dortmund to finish as Group winners.

West Brom gave Tony Pulis the boot after their mauling at the hands of Chelsea, and while a permanent manager has yet to be appointed, they will aim to at least put in a good showing.

Newcastle will host an adventurous Watford side at the Sports Direct Arena.
Crystal Palace and Stoke will have their eyes on all three points in their clash at Selhurst Park.

Swansea will take on Bournemouth at the Liberty Stadium.

Tomorrow, Burnley will face Arsenal at Turf Moor. The Clarets are in good form going into the game. Their win against Swansea was their 6th of the season and has seen them move up to 7th on the log, level on points with the Gunners. They have already claimed a big scalp this season in Chelsea and they will be looking for more.

Arsenal’s win over Tottenham saw Mesut Ozil produce one of his best displays in his time with the Gunners. With a solid partnership alongside Lacazette and Alexis Sanchez on the rise, it can only get better for the North London giants. Whether the trio starts together, however, remains to be seen.

Manchester City will travel to the Kirklees Stadium to take on Huddersfield Town. The Citizens have continued to impress, winning 11 of their 12 League matches, with the other being a draw. They have their last 17 games in all competitions, the best run in their 130 year history. They have also won their last seven away games and haven’t lost in their last 25. Huddersfield town are on the back of their joint heaviest Premier League defeat, losing 4-0 to 10 man Bournemouth.

The last side from Manchester to play at the stadium (Manchester United) were on the receiving end of a 2-1 defeat. David Wagner will be hopeful of masterminding yet another good result, especially in the absence of City defender John Stones.
Southampton will tackle Everton at St. Mary’s Stadium in what appears to be a dicey encounter. If football is played in Heaven, then the Saints should overrun their guests!
