Premier League Week 19 Preview

It’s another party time for the Citizens
Log leaders Manchester City will have another party time when take on Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium this evening. The Citizens made history last weekend, with a 4-1 win over Tottenham breaking the record for the most consecutive wins in the English top flight with 16 wins. They followed it up by reaching the semi finals of the Carabao Cup in midweek after beating Leicester on penalties.

Opponents Bournemouth were thrashed 4-0 by Liverpool in front of their own fans, and then lost away to Chelsea in the Carabao Cup. It’s not the kind of run Eddie Howe would have wanted, but he will be hoping his side put in a decent showing against the rampaging Citizens.
Two teams in good form collide as Everton tackle Chelsea at Goodison Park.

The Toffees have witnessed a change in fortunes, as a run of wins has seen them climb up to ninth on the log. Players like Gylfi Sigurdsson are finally starting to show their worth, with the Iceland international in particular scoring a stunner in a 3-1 win over Swansea.

Chelsea have won their last two games in a row since losing to West Ham. They now lie in third place, four points clear of Liverpool and 14 behind Man City. It’s a stark difference compared to last season, and their opponents will fancy their chances against their shaky opponents.

Manchester United will play Leicester City at the King Power Stadium. The Red Devils may be second on the table but they have been far from convincing in recent games, especially without midfielder Paul Pogba. A rotated United team suffered a surprise 2-1 loss to Bristol City in midweek, with Matteo Darmian in particular coming under criticism for his woeful performance.

If they are to keep up with Man City, however, they have to keep winning.
Leicester suffered their first defeat in four games in dramatic fashion, losing 3-0 at home to Crystal Palace and Wilfried Ndidi receiving a red card on his birthday. They lost this fixture last season and with Pogba returning, they have a tough task ahead.

Tottenham will look to bounce back against Burnley at Turf Moor. It will be a tough one for the Lilywhites as Burnley lie in sixth, a point and a place behind them.

West Ham will host Newcastle at the Olympic Stadium. While West Ham are out of the bottom three, Newcastle have dropped in and will be desperate for points.
Southampton will aim to end a four game winless run, featuring three defeats, against Huddersfield at St.Mary’s stadium.

With three losses on the spin, Brighton will look to get back to winning ways against a Watford side still feeling the effects of the 4-1 loss to Huddersfield.
Manager-less Swansea City will entertain a high flying Crystal Palace at the Liberty Stadium. A 3-1 loss to Everton saw Paul Clement get the sack, while Palace’s resurgence has seen them climb out of the relegation zone and up to 14th place on the log.

Under-fire Stoke manager Mark Hughes will hope his side can get the points against West Brom at the Britannia Stadium, considering their poor run of form lately.
