Presidential peace accord on my birthday?

It is significant to me that Nigeria’s National Peace Committee (NPC) has invited presidential hopefuls to the proposed signing of peace accord ahead of the 2023 presidential and National Assembly elections.

I am excited because the letter signed and issued on Thursday, September 15, by Chairman of NPC, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd), invites the candidates and their spokespersons to append their first signatures on the peace accord on Thursday, September 29, 2022.

Coincidentally, I was born on Wednesday, September 29, 1965. I will be 57 on this day that presidential candidates will be signing their peace accord.

By the way, the signing of this accord is to assure that the process will be conducted in a peaceful manner. That they will not allow it to be rancorous.

The signing itself is taking place a day after the commencement of the presidential and National Assembly campaigns.

It is my wish that the spokespersons of the presidential candidates, after the signing of this accord, will change the pattern of their campaign, which is now ‘personality-based’ to ‘issue-based.’

May the best candidate emerge victorious on Saturday, February 25, 2023.
