Presidential ticket open contest – Organising sec

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Organizing Secretary, Austin Akobundu, has confirmed that the party’s presidential ticket is open to all as there is no preferred candidate.
Akobundu, who stated this in a statement yesterday, was reacting to a publication in one of the national dailies claiming that one of the presidential aspirants has been endorsed by key leaders of the party.
“Nothing can be farther from the truth and all Nigerians are urged to disregard the publication as it is a fabrication from the imagination of the author even as he tried to make it look authoritative. It is calculated to create confusion”, he said.
He also reminded Nigerians that the Prince Uche Secondus-led NWC has repeatedly made it clear that all party congresses would be free, fair, transparent and open.
The Organizing Secretary said that “the transparent primaries conducted in Ekiti State last month that produced the PDP flag bearer for the July 14 gubernatorial election, is a testimony to the fact that the party is determined to pursue rule driven processes.
He assured party members, particularly presidential aspirants and their supporters, that the contest would be open and transparent and Nigerians would be happy at the outcome.
