Primaries: Group urges delegates to elect Abubakar, Gumau

The Bauchi South Coalition has appealed to party delegates to endorse Governor Mohammed Abubakar and Senator Lawal Yahya Gumau as governorship and senatorial candidates, respectively for the 2019 general elections.
Addressing journalists yesterday, chairman of the coalition, Alhaji Shuaibu Almustapha, said governor Abubakar should be re-elected to enable him complete the many ongoing projects in the state.
According to him, the governor has within the first tenure embarked on dualization of several roads in the state capital and construction of new others, including the 105-kilometer road in Misau local government, fearing that if he does not return, they projects might be abandoned.
He opined that Senator Lawal Yahya Gumau should also be retained as the senatorial candidate of the party for 2019 because he suffered to win the recent senatorial bye election, arguing that he needs ample time in the senate to be able to give good representation to his constituents.
In his contribution, a youth leader, Kabiru Garba Lada, alleged that the other governorship aspirants contesting against Abubakar are out to destabilise the party “because they wrote series of petitions to the national headquarters of the All Progressives Congress.”
